The winners of the first-ever Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering awards have been revealed at a ceremony in central London.

Jointly launched by Construction News and its sister title New Civil Engineer, the awards celebrate the role models and organisations empowering women in construction and engineering.

A total of seven winners were crowned, with a panel of expert judges having selected the women and teams that stand out as exceptional and showcased both individual and organisation-wide initiatives.

Construction News editor Colin Marrs said: "The inaugural Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Awards felt like an important moment for our industry.

"Seeing so many sector professionals gathered to celebrate the achievements of females was testament to the progress the sector is making on gender diversity.

"This momentum needs to be sustained, and we are looking forward to developing this event in future years in support of women in the construction and engineering sectors."

The awards are part of a joint programme by the two magazines under the Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering initiative and were a successor to NCE's previous Recognising Women in Engineering Awards.

The publications are working together with a twofold mission: to provide networking opportunities and other resources to help women make career progress, and to help companies in the sector become better employers for women.
